Hey, if we’re just meeting, I’m Lakisha Corbett, and I am wildly obsessed with empowering women to create a life on their terms.
You see I don’t believe in boundaries or restrictions. I don’t believe we need to live within a box based on a cookie cutter model our parents, teachers, the environment or the media manipulated us to believing was correct.
But I do believe we are all EXTRAORDINARY people who mistakenly adopted the beliefs of others that do not serve who we are at our core.
You know the beliefs:
You’re not good enough.
You’re not pretty enough.
You’re not thin enough.
You’re not smart enough.
I mean I can go on and on for hours with the junk we’ve been the program to believe. But I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be like this; you can think differently.
Tap into your inner child, be the kid who lived life on their terms and didn’t believe in rules. Not the kid who played with fire but the kid who drew for hours and thought he could be Picasso.
Be the girl who was brave enough to jump on the sofa, even though her parents told her, she would get hurt but did it anyway.
Believe even if you fall, you’ll get back up and start playing again.
It is time to believe in yourself again. I believe in you.
How do you ask? Well, to be honest, I was just like you. I lacked passion in my 9-5 job, I dropped in and out of college, and I was continuously questioning my purpose in the world.
I had a desire to be a writer, you know, I wanted to write influential books like Brene Brown, Lisa Nichols, and Elizabeth Gilbert. But the thing is, I didn’t believe I was good enough.
In fall 2015, a friend told me I couldn’t continuous say; I wanted to be a writer and have never written anything.
So I launched my blog Our Lips Are Moving, and the rest was history.
Just kidding. A lot of shit went down.
Blogging quickly became my obsession. I would spend hours upon hours working on content and perfecting my writing craft.
I never thought I was good enough to be a writer.
My limiting beliefs around my writing and self-worth lead to me seeking out the help of a life coach!
And Holy Shit! She changed my life. The writing was an outlet for me, but she helped me to see that I could turn my blog into something bigger. She encouraged me to believe I could be a New York Times Best Seller.
She told me anything is possible and slowly but surely I began to realize, she was right. And that feeling was amazing.
The moment you realize ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE is the moment you JUMP.
Working with a coach gave me to convince I needed to step out of my comfort zone and create a life I can be proud to call my own. I took my passion for writing to an even GRANDER scale. I decided to start a coaching business.
I quickly became infatuated with personal development and I wanted to help women feel as great, as I was starting to feel. I began to come out of my shell both personally and professionally.
I had been working in customer service for eight years as a manager, I had to be a problem solver because everything in life isn’t black and white. I had to be creative and leave people feeling satisfied.
When I started my blog, I decided to cater to millennials to empower them to create a life they can brag about. After working with a coach, I dedicated my time to learn more about the coaching world and how I can serve more people.
Fast forward 8 months, I now have a coaching business, where I help ambitious women end their vicious cycle with limiting beliefs and take back control of her life and take action.
