I remember journaling around having a maid come clean my house and one day I said let's just do it.
I reached out to a few companies and by the next week my house was sparkling clean. She did an amazing job and didn't charge me much.
When I look back to the amount of work that was done - she definitely should have charged more because she saved me SO much time and stress.
I totally hate cleaning and it's more like a chore to me, so it takes a lot to get me in the mood. I'll procrastinate for hours to fold the laundry or wash the dishes I feel like there is a better use of my time (writing epic content for my ever growing audience).
The maid allowed me to spend time reading, mediating (without clutter all around me) or coaching clients. The work that she did was more then just the few hours she spent cleaning - it gave me peace of mind.
I didn't have to worry about coming home and cleaning up because it was already done. I could spend my time and energy where it is BEST served - my business.
That was worth more than $20 an hour.
I wrote all of this to say when I think about the price I charge for my services, I ask myself "WHAT PROBLEM AM I SOLVING?"
What am I helping my clients do? Am I putting them in a position to quit there job? Make an extra 10k a month?
Leave a toxic relationship? Act on their passion project?
How is what I am doing serving my clients? What is that worth?
Even as a service based business make sure you are charging your worth. Evaluate the time, energy, and ROI your client will receieve and charge accordingly.
Your pricing is an exchange of services. You pay top dollar for Gucci, Prada and YSL because you EXPECT high quality merchandise.
So if you are transforming your clients lives - make sure the money you bring money makes you feel good about the work you are doing.
Starbuck easily charges $5 for a cup of coffee and people still flock to the stores. They are constantly opening up new locations all over the world. They can do that because they charge what they feel they are worth - they believe in their business and the experience people receive.
